This recipe is a family favourite dessert. I remember my mom making apple crumble when I was a young child. I'll never forget the delightful smell cinnamon and sweet apples filling the house on a Sunday afternoon. The sweet crunchy topping with the tangy soft apples is a winning combination! It's one of the simplest and healthiest desserts you can make.
Serves 8
Ingredients
8 apples - sliced or diced (no need to peel)
1 tbsp lemon or orange juice
1/3 cup margarine or soft butter
1 cup uncooked oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp ground flax (optional)
¾ cup brown sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Toss apples with juice and place in the bottom of a 9x12” baking dish.
Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl until crumbly.
Press crumbled mixture evenly over apples.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until fruit is soft and crumble is golden brown.
Enjoy on it's own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Substitutions
Try this recipe with different fruit: peaches (fresh, frozen or canned), blueberries (fresh or frozen) or strawberries and rhubarb.
Try adding nuts or seeds to the topping: slivered almonds, walnut pieces, flax seed, sunflower seeds.

I’ve tried a number of your recipes so far, and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them! Especially your muffins, so thank you 🙂🙂 I will say however, that i often cut the sugar as I find that the recipes can handle a little less sweetness. Anyhow, I have this crumble in the ovwn currently and cannot wait to try it out for breakfast in the morning with a scoop of Greek yogurt 🤤
